Weather & Cancellation Policy

Your Safety Comes First

At LowCountry Coastal Excursions, safety is always our highest priority.
The Lowcountry weather can change quickly, and our experienced captains continuously
monitor marine forecasts, radar, wind conditions, tides, and lightning before and during every trip.
We make every effort to operate as scheduled whenever it is safe to do so.

Please don't assume your trip has been canceled because rain is in the forecast. Unless you hear directly from LowCountry Coastal Excursions, please plan to arrive for your scheduled departure.

Weather Protection (Optional)

Protect your booking with optional Weather Protection for an additional 10% at the time of booking.

If LowCountry Coastal Excursions must cancel your trip due to qualifying unsafe weather, guests who purchase Weather Protection will receive a 100% refund of the trip price. The Weather Protection fee itself is non-refundable.

**The U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain makes the final determination whether weather conditions are safe to operate.

Qualifying weather includes:
  • Lightning or thunderstorms
  • Tropical storm or hurricane warnings
  • Unsafe winds or sea conditions
  • U.S. Coast Guard harbor closures

Weather Protection does not apply to:
  • Light rain or passing showers
  • Cloudy, hot, or cold weather
  • Choppy but safe water conditions
  • A guest choosing not to attend
  • Seasickness

Without Weather Protection
If LowCountry Coastal Excursions cancels a trip due to qualifying unsafe weather, guests will receive a booking credit valid for 12 months instead of a refund.

Weather Protection does not allow guests to cancel or receive a refund based solely on the forecast or personal preference.

If you purchased Weather Protection:

Standard Weather Policy

A little rain does not automatically cancel a trip.
Many summer showers pass quickly, and conditions on the water are often much different than inland weather forecasts.

Trips may operate in:

  • Light rain
  • Overcast skies
  • Cooler temperatures
  • Passing showers

However, trips may be delayed, shortened, rescheduled, or canceled if our captain determines conditions are unsafe due to:
  • Lightning
  • Severe thunderstorms
  • High winds
  • Dangerous seas
  • Dense fog
  • Any other unsafe marine conditions

The captain's decision is final and is always made with the safety of our guests and crew in mind.

If  We Cancel

If LowCountry Coastal Excursions cancels your trip because of unsafe weather or mechanical issues, you'll have the option to:
  • Reschedule for another available date
  • Receive a full refund

If Weather Changes During Your Trip

Weather on the coast can change unexpectedly.

If a storm develops after your trip has already begun, the captain may return to the dock early if necessary for everyone's safety.

Because your captain has already reserved the vessel, crew, fuel, and departure time, trips that have already departed are generally not eligible for refunds due to changing weather conditions.

Customer Cancellation Policy

Reservations may be canceled:
  • 7 or more days before departur
    • Receive a full refund.
  • 3 to 6 days before departure
    • Receive a 50% refund.
  • Less than 72 hours before departure
    • Reservations are non-refundable.
    •
No-shows and late arrivals are also non-refundable.

Running Late?

If you're running behind, please call or text us as soon as possible.
We'll do everything we reasonably can to help,
but because other guests and tides often affect our schedule, we cannot guarantee delayed departures.

Private Charters

Private charter cancellations follow the same policy unless otherwise specified in your charter agreement.
If severe weather prevents your charter from safely operating, we'll gladly work with you to reschedule or provide a full refund.

Our Promise

Our goal isn't simply to cancel trips whenever rain appears in the forecast.

We want every guest to enjoy an amazing experience while staying safe. Our captains know these waters and make weather decisions based on real-time marine conditions, not just the weather app on a phone.

If you ever have questions before your trip, we're happy to discuss the forecast with you.
